About Me
Amanda Lopez - Collage Artist

~ Collage Art Studies ~
Although Amanda Lopez first learned collage-making as a fun art form, she's transformed it into a communication tool. Using colorful images and words found in everyday places, she uses Collage Art to examine universal themes such as politics, spirituality, racism, healthcare and the economy.

In the 1990s, Amanda graduated with a degree in journalism before she began creating collages. She then focused on merging three or four colors in a single collage by cutting images out of magazines, posters—even her photo album. After a few years of color studies, she merged her art and news backgrounds by letting contemporary themes inspire each visual display.

~ Naming & Signing Collages ~
Each collage title offers a clue to its theme. Within each collage, Amanda visually solves a puzzle that mirrors her own thinking about an issue or philosophical question: What do I think about war? Does time really fly? What is the true cost of living?

Amanda then "signs" the collage with a photo of herself. To protect the images she laminates the collage, resulting in artwork that is sometimes mistaken as computer-generated.
